18.10.08: The Sight Below (US) + Erik Skodvin (NO) @ The Villa, Oslo
The Sight Below is a brand new side project of Rafael Anton Irisarri (Miasmah). He is currently doing a tour of Europe, and this Saturday evening visits the dense basement venue of The Villa, Oslo and later Blæst in Trondheim. The Sight Below is signed to Ghostly and a new album is released in November, and be sure to check out the free, downloadable EP that has already been released. This is one to watch!
From the press announcement The Sight Below is described as warm music that invites you to focus and then lose focus in a mesh of morphed guitar sounds set to cool, minimal soundscapes and chilled rhythms in the backdrop.
“Lonely is the new dance party” – so we will see tomorrow for ourselves.
Erik Skodvin is local boy and the cinematical and enigmatic producer behind monikers such as Svarte Greiner and Deaf Center. His warm-up set will be a guitar-loop-drone-gaze set that is sure to provide excellent pre-listening before the live performance from his label comrade, Irisarri.
This is sure to be a night to be part of and to remember for fans of GAS, slowdive, Arvö Part, old flicks, My Bloody Valentine, Echospace, shoegazing, of course the Miasmah label, Murcof’s cosmos, William Basinski, and much more.
