Pjusk is a Norwegian electronica duo featuring Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik and Rune Andre Sagevik. Jostein is surely a familiar name to many, both from his work as Circular more recently and before that Neural Network back in the early 90s. Rune is a former promoter from the west coast of Norway and has being composing electronic music well over a decade. Rumours has it Pjusk was formed when Jostein heard one of Rune’s tracks on radio and the result of their ensueing contact was Pjusk, with their critically acclaimed debut album Sart released on Taylor Deupree’s credible New York-based label, 12k back in april 2007. Their music is minimalistic and atmospheric, evocative and with a cinematic character, with vast, floating expanses and flavoured with lots of found sounds and field recordings. This evening Soundscaping Records has the great pleasure of presenting Pjusk in concert for the first time on Norwegian soil for a live performance including both familiar songs and teasers from their much anticipated follow-up.

Morgan Packard’s music can be regarded in the light of over ten years involvement and work with rhythm-based electronic music with a good influence of theoretical studies in the schools of jazz, western classical music and computer programming. In spite of the music often being classified as minimal electronica, Packard works from the principle of meticulously planned arrangements, catering for elements that could fit the bill of many genres but on closer scrutiny hardly can be placed in only one particular niche. Based around repetitive techno and house rhythms, gradually shifted out of their own determined looping rhythms by Packard’s self-programmed music software, the music finds a sound that unites electronics, jazz and classical with a feeling of being orchestrated, though it may just as well seem improvised and deliciously experimental.
Morgan Packard lives in New York and has previously released both a solo album, a collaborative album with Ezekiel Honig and several songs on various twelves on both Microcosm Music and Anticipate Records, the latter also being home to last year’s acclaimed solo album Airships Fill The Sky.

Soundscaping Records is a new, independent electronica record label that will primarily release music moving in the landscape of minimalistic and atmospheric electronica. Our first album is slated for release in early autumn of 2008, and ahead of our first release, we commence operations with a concert- and label-night. On these nights we will present musicians and music we are highly influenced by and that share the same music profile we associate with Soundscaping Records.
