Sonar 2011 - a short roundup

Sónar 2011

This year Sonar celebrated its fourth edition of SonarSound Tokyo, this weekend. The line up included the likes of Karl Hyde & Darren Price, Battles, Flying Lotus, Kode 9 along with Japanese artists working today, such as the well-known names of Ryoji Ikeda and DJ Krush, as well as Y. Sunahara, Takagi Masakatsu, Rovo, Azzsssx, DJ Baku, Altz, Sabi, dot i/o, Daisuke Tanabe and Open Reel Ensemble, and the latter two will also be present in the line-up of Sónar 2011 in Barcelona.

But for most of the people visiting Sonar, it will be the dates between 16th and 19th of June that will be marked in their calendar. Sonar in Spain has now become a dual festival with one edition in La Coruña, and one in Barcelona.

The Barcelona edition has still the fullest line up, spreading artists over four days, and two nights. There will be further additions to the current batch of performers, though the opening concert in the evening on the 16th – Steve Reich + bcn216 + Synergy Vocals – and the final concert on the 19th – Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto – has been booked.
