Soundscaping - sonic excursions into new electronic music

Soundscaping was started in 2005 primarily to become an online resource directed at the Norwegian music scene, predominantly music which involves an element of electronica. 2008 will also see the launch of Soundscaping Records, an independent label with a focus on quality releases in the same music genres promoted by the Soundscaping netzine.

Soundscaping now offers RSS feeds of recent updates to the web-site, just drag or click the RSS-icon displayed in the left column into your RSS-reader of choice to stay right up to date with Soundscaping news. Adjacent to the RSS-icon, you’ll also find the little Digg guy (Digg!-guy) so you can easily digg Soundscaping stories; and there’s also a quick link bookmark pages into your Del.icio.us icon (del.icio.us) account.

Falling from the sky soundwaves… let the sonic excursions into new, electronic music begin.

Sound artists Mathieu Ruhlmann and the duo Celer here dedicate their work to the Mesoscaphe – which unfortunately was overshadowed by the lunar landings, yet this Spekk release is sure not to be eclipsed.

A glimpse into the world of Miasmah

Spring 2006 saw the release of a label compilation on a new label called Miasmah, a label release really bearing the catalogue no. 63 but being the first printed release. Since then, for every release Miasmah has grown in prominence, now an established pioneer of acoustic doom and lovely cinematic excursions into electronica. Here we present a retrospective look at one of today’s hottest, Norwegian labels.

Hannu - Worms in My Piano [Osaka]

This album from 2006 just needed to be dug out of the crate and shared with you all. As many of my favourites go, they could start out with an odd impression and then just grow immensely on you. Here is Hannu and his fabulous debut album “Worms in My Piano” released on the Irish Osaka Recordings.
